I have a D-Link wireless router and USB dongle package, it works with my windows laptops perfectly well. I am looking for a way to use the USB wireless dongle with a G5 tower so I can use the Mac as a web machine. There is a software driver for the dongle but I have no idea what information on the different tabs I should enter, so any ideas what this should be? The user manual is for windows, there is information on how to set up for Mac, despite the inclusion of the Mac driver on the CD.

How to configure USB Hard Drive on D-link DSL-2750U Wireless N 300 ADSL2+ Modem Router. I decided to plump for the D-link DSL-2750U model. The manual talks about installing a USB Remote NDIS Device Driver or a USB ADSL 1.3 driver - none of which came with the packaging nor can I find it anywhere on the internet. The dongle is a D-Link DWA-111, user manual here: thanks for any help. Hi BD Very good of you to reply So, the SW is already installed & you went to NetworkShow:Network Port Configurations & got the pop-up about a new Port detected? The driver is installed using a D-Link installer, it creates an entry in: system settings other: its called D-Link DWA-111 I don't get a popup about a new port when opening up the DLink icon I get: I have no idea what to do next Is that Interface dragged to the top of NetworkShow:Network Port Configurations and checked ON? Do the tabs you're talking about look like this?

Nope, I only get the DLink window From your suggested way above; how do I get this software and I can try setting up the USB with this? Many thanks for your help. I use a d-link dwl g122 dongle that has the same RT73 ralink chip.

The d-link driver that came with the CD just did one thing to my G5 powermac: kernelpanic! After some searching on the web i found out, that it is best not to use the d-link driver at all, but to use the original ralink driver for the chip provided here: load the 'USB(RT257X/RT2671/RT2500)' driver.

That's the driver, that will give you the wireless utility as it is shown in BD's picture. Before you install it, make sure that you uninstall the d-link driver completely. There should be an uninstaller in the dmg or zip file, that was on the CD. Then install the ralink driver and after that connect your d-link dongle. The wireless utility should pop up after a minute or so, but first you've to go to the network preference pane and confirm, that there is a new port detected.

Then you can go back to the wireless utility, that by then should be searching for available wireless networks in the site survey tab. Choose yours and enter the password when asked. After that safe the connection to a profile. Message was edited by: dirkt68.

Thanks to you both none of your suggestions worked no wireless config window appears network preferences doesn't show any RALINK or D-Link stuff its too difficult to bother with, tried for 7 months to get it to work so I threw it in the bin A friend gave me a USB called Addon and I was connected in 5 minutes Its really pathetic there are no user guides for many of the Mac software supplied by 3rd party manufacturers for hardware such as printers, USB kit and still cameras. There was a 55 page manual for Windows machines and not one mention of Mac despite the D-Link driver on the CD. When there is good info and good software for Mac everything works great. Apple Footer.
